Our EV Miata Kit was designed to be
safe, easy to install, and support a number of available components and
battery chemistries.
Safety requirements include
-
Steel battery racks are
bolted to the vehicle's frame rails and are designed to secure the
batteries in the event of an impact
-
Fully insulated high
voltage terminals keeps wandering fingers from coming in contact with
pack voltage
-
Both battery options are
sealed to reduce or eliminate the possibility of spills of damaging or
toxic electrolyte
Ease of installation
requirements
-
No welding required
-
Minimal "heavy" work - the
engine needs to be removed, but the transmission and rear sub-frame
does not
-
Common hand and power tools
used throughout
-
Clear, step by step
instructions with illustrations
Two battery types are also
supported
The kit is design to handle
either battery type which allows an easy upgrade path from lead acid to
lithium if the owner so desires.
Battery Racks

-
The Nose Rack sits in the
nose of the car and holds 4 Group 34 AGM batteries, or 16 90 or 100 AH
LiFePO cells.
-
The Top Rack sits above the
motor and holds 4 Group 34 AGM batteries, or 17 90 or 100 AH LiFePO
cells. It also provides the mounting points for the vacuum pump, DC/DC
converter and High Voltage Enclosure bracket.
-
The Trunk Rack sits below
the trunk floor so that trunk space is optimized. The Trunk Rack holds
5 Group 34 AGM batteries, or 24 90 or 100 AH LiFePO cells.
Other configurations are
available for 40 or 60 AH LiFePO batteries.
Brackets

-
The Motor Mount firmly
mounts the WarP 9” DC motor to the front subframe.
-
The Controller mounts on
the Controller/Charger bracket above the Nose Rack and will support a
number of different controller options. This bracket allows for 6" of
hood clearance toward the forward edge and 8" of clearance at the
rear. The bracket is 28.75" wide and 10.75" long. This bracket will
provide a secure mounting point for a number or different controller
and charger options.
-
The front mounted Charger
also mounts on the Controller/Charger bracket above the Nose Rack. For
larger chargers of controllers, the charger could be mounted in the
trunk - see item E below.
-
The High Voltage Enclosure
mounts on the HVE bracket on driver side of the Top Rack. It contains
the Contactor, Controller Fuse, Auxiliary Relay and Ammeter Shunt.
-
The optional Rear Charger
Bracket can be custom ordered. It mounts in the trunk and can be
designed to hold a charger just below the charging port. Mounting the
charger in this location allows larger controllers or chargers to be
used.
